Weird Names of Places Near Kiting Places
Greetings -
This from "What's UP?" put out by the New Zealand Kitefliers Association:
A couple of kiters reported that, on the way to a beach, "We stopped at the site of the world's longest place name - 'Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu' which translates roughly as 'The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one'."
Anyone else have some strange place names close to where you fly?
For example, Pacific Beach State Park in Washington is not that far from Humptulips.

Well, a little bit south of St. Louis we have the town of Knob Lick, MO. How's that for an odd name?
And over on the Kansas City side there's the town of Peculiar, MO.

The old San Diego Kite Club originally flew at a field, Ski Beach, on "Ingraham St." before we moved to their current location on East Mission Bay

Kevin and his mates fly each week at Moana Beach... but it's actually pronounced Moh-ah-na!

I'm sure there are some members of the Mid Michigan String Stretchers who've flown in Hell. And I have their road sign: Hell Next Exit.
