Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
I have a ZWD that has been stored for many years. When I got it out I found that the all of the non-metal and fixtures (the ones that look like they were plastic or rubber) have hardened and are broken or getting ready to break. Does anyone know where replacement parts can be had? They are in such bad shape it is hard to determine what they were. The kite was designed by Marc Ricketts and distributed by Nova Design Group.

Re: Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
I can think of two shops that have nearly every type of fitting, The Kite Studio and Goodwinds.

Thanks Phil. I will try The Kite Studio. How about those Clemson Tigers!

Re: Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
Hi, I rebuilt one this past fall. The fittings are para tubing that gets brittle and shatter. I used tiny aluminum hobby tubing cut to length and crimped . Kite belonged to a friend.

Thanks Cliff. I am looking at tubing used for gas line on a blower but will keep metal tubing in mind also.

Re: Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
Hi Chuck, I tried synthetic vinyl urethane but with no success. I was able to reuse existing bridling by making a knot in the ends ,stuffing them into the tubing and crimping. You can get the aluminum tubing at any hobby shop ,the brand is K&S Metals. Or on line . Match the i.d. to your carbon spars.

Re: Rebuilding Synergy Zero Wind Deca
originally Mar(c) used aluminum tube for the rod fittings but stopped as they will wear through the rods with use...
i strongly advise getting 6 FSD style fittings like these (http://www.kitebuilder.com/catalog/inde … 8)....then you can sew a short line onto the skin, or you could also use the existing thread left from the tubing attachment.....and have this fitting on there to catch the end of the rod......
I know a few people who have replaced the original tubing with superthane tubing with good success...but i prefer the hard plastic fitting as the tubing is mean to be folded over and will need to be replaced no matter what it is....
if you need the manuals for any of the guildworks kites they are available over here: http://windsweptkites.com/manuals.html
