Cody Kites and Tails
Cody Kites and Tails
I'd like some advice before I spend. If I fly and 8 foot by 4 foot Cody extended wing kite, should I attach tails, tubes, streamers and such? I don't have the kite yet, but in anticipation of it, I wonder where the attachments points are and whether the kite will deform too much with tails and such. It appears that its down to Gomberg and HQ as far as buying a Cody at all. Oh, how I long for the splendor of some of those Cody kites I see on Google images. Some folks are talented and others just lucky!

Re: Cody Kites and Tails
It is extremely rare that a Cody is flown with any sort of tail, but I am far from an expert. You may want to contact Rick White of the Seattle area. Rick runs the Cody mass ascension each year at WSKIF, Long Beach WA.
You can find his email contact in the club house, or drop me a note at bfmeyer at comcast.net.
Another expert is Rick Brown. He is known for building Cody kites.
One of those guys can help you track down a perfect kite.

Re: Cody Kites and Tails
Captain: I have been flying a 6' Extended Wing Cody, custom made by Jeff Howard, for at least 15 years at multiple kite events every year. Lots of air time. Favorite kite out of hundreds. Personal plea--don't mess it up with tails, streamers, etc.; it's just beautiful in flight by itself. It would be like adding Christmas tinsel to a floral arrangement. If you must embellish, use line laundry, not the kite itself. I hope you get one soon.

Richard, thanks for the tip. I wish I could find a Cody maker. It looks like its down to Treczocs cody from HQ or one of GKite's offerings.

Re: Cody Kites and Tails
video
Didakites makes a Cody30 (7.8' wingspand) kite for $136 that was with delivery from germany.
I had to talk to them to get a alternate and cheaper ($36) way of delivering the kite to new york which would have cost me over $70 if I had let them delivered thru there current courier.
I made a video of its first flight and I actually did a KAP session with the kite. This Cody is made very well and is quick to setup I highly reccomend this kite.
