It's time for Troy Gunn to build the 2011 Region 8 Kite Events Calendar webpage.

Many kite flyers across Region 8 print this Region 8 Kite Events calendar off at the beginning of the year. Many other kite flyers and/or kite clubs link to this website from their websites or borrow the calendar information to place on their websites; therefore, it's important to have this events calendar completed, with factual information, before January 1st of each new year.

If you're thinking about changing your event date, or you're are going to organize your first kite event, normally, most annual kite events organizers schedule their events to happen the same month and same weekend of each year. Therefore, if you are confused or wondering about when you want to schedule your event, simply look at the current Region 8 Kite events calendar webpage (link listed at the bottom of this e-mail), and choose your event date.

Some events do overlap, especially in the months of April thru June, but generally those events that overlap are hundreds of miles in distance from each other, and therefore it usually doesn't create much of a conflict between festivals, unless the events are AKA sanctioned sport kite competitions, where sport kite competitors are trying to earn qualifying points for the AKA Convention and Grand Nationals competition. If you want to organize a AKA sanctioned sport kite competition, do not organize an event the same weekend of any other Region 8 sport kite competition events.

- sport kite competitions, single line, fun flying, kid's kite building, candy drops, buggy demos, kite building, seminar, bowl races, fun competition (example: biggest, smallest kite, longest tail, etc...), demonstrations, food, entertainment, fund raiser, etc....

Please, even if you don't have your kite event info completely ready yet, reply to this e-mail and let me know when you can e-mail me the info, and that you received is e-mail. Send all kite event info from any event that you are certain about, even if it's a 2 hour kite fly for a group of girl scouts / boy scouts.

Please remind other kite event organizers to send me their info too. It's to your benefit to have it listed on the events calendar.
