Re: Newport Kite Fest
The Newport Kite Festival was outstanding this year. The best part was it was free and open to anyone who wanted to fly kites and have fun
Today was a free for all on the demo field with one demo after another sport kites single line fighters buggy's and a mega kite fly off when the boys broke out the big toys. Our new kite club the National Kite Alliance picked up more new members today

This event brought kiting fun to thousands of spectators this past weekend. Ron Kitt managed to secure a spot on popular TV morning show, front page coverage, for two different days, in the major region newspaper. The result was thousands of spectators descended upon the event. The sky was full of hundreds of spectator kites. Mixed in were avid New England kitefliers. To be honest I've never heard a louder roar from a kite crowd for the Bol Races arranged by Glenn Davison. The candy drop drew dozens of children and the crowd loved it.
Not since the days of Black Ships Festival did I ever see such a large and active spectator crowd. One point, all were there for the kite event! It seems Ron did a great job of increasing kite enthusiam in New England. No better way then to get spectators informed, and then involved.

Re: Newport Kite Fest
Newport was rocking !!! That was a "Kite Show"!!!
Got to thank all the fliers that came out. Even when the wind was not at its best in the morning, Jackie open the Sunday event up with the a indoor single line Skate' kite, to the National Anthem. Outriggers wowed the crowed with multi able multiline kites. Karl, Doug, Archie, and Scott did some great demos and help keep the field busy. Also Airplay came up and showed what pairs can do with Revs.
And a young couple that have only been flying for a year in a half, did individual demos for the 1st time.
SLK folks like Gary, John, Glenn, and others ( so many ) came out with monster kites that showed the crowed NKF knows how to put on a show.
Even Pauly broke out the play sail to the folks amazement. I can see kids taking bed sheets from moms laundry with in the week to play.
Awesome, I am still recouping fro it all myself.
If we can get more events like that around here, we will be doing great.
Good work Ron.
