[Milwaukee] In Milwaukee, On July 3rd of each year, a huge fireworks display is launched at 9:25 pm. During the day, the KSWI and Gift of Wings rope off a large area of the park for kite flying. This is a fun fly and we encourage all to come and take part in this fun event. Kites will fly from 11:00 am until 6 PM. All those folks that come and fly kites will get a pass to sit really close to the fireworks launch point. See Scott Fisher for that special pass.
[Neenah] July 4 Neenah CommunityFest in Neenah, WI

You are invited to fly with us at the Neenah CommunityFest, Riverside Park, Neenah

1:00 – 3:00 pm – kite making and flying --
potluck picnic 4:00 pm --
fireworks – 10:00 pm

Join us for kite flying! Stunt kite performances! Kid’s kite making!

Please join us and bring your banners, kites, ground displays, etc. and most importantly…bring a dish to pass for our annual July 4th picnic in the park!

We will have a tent set up and will be at the Park at 8:00 am...we will remain there all day.

Fireworks display in the evening--we have the best seats in the house!

Bring food, games, music, etc for a day full of fun activities with kiter friends!

Please note that field space is limited, so short lines or ground displays may be better at Riverside.

For larger kites, Shattuck park is a block away and provides a good open space in downtown Neenah--a great location for show kites, or stunt fliers! Andy flew his REVOLUTION 6-stack there and it really drew a crowd!

[Dorchester] Dear Kiting Enthusiast,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you, your kites, and your families to our "Kites, Movies & More" event on July 5th, from 5:30 - 8:00. We will be celebrating the start of the summer Thursday night movie series at Pope John Paul II Park on Gallivan Blvd in Dorchester with make-your-own kites, nature crafts and catch & release fishing instruction. It will be a wonderful way to spend an evening, and families may stay for the movie which begins at sunset.

We also hope that you, and other local kiting enthusiasts, will wow the audience by demonstrating your special kites and skills!

Please consider this an open invitation to join us at the event. The event begins at 5:30pm and will go until around 8:00pm, do feel free to drop in when you are able. We would love to see a variety of kiters there!

Our website www.bostonnatural.org contains more information about this and our other Neponset River Greenway Festival events. You may contact me with any questions at candice@bostonnatural.org or 617.542.7696.

[Berkeley] Berkeley Kite Festival Overview:
At the Berkeley Kite Festival it seems that a fresh surprise awaits around every corner. In one amphitheater you’ll find multi-line competitions of the Bay Area Sport Kite League. In another you’ll find more events and competitions, such as the candy drops and rokkaku battles. Look to the north and you will see the traditional kites of our special guests from the Sode-cho Kite-Flying Society of Hamamatsu, Japan. In the upper field you’ll find the giant creature kite show of the Berkeley Kite Wranglers. Walk down to the lower field near the main entrance and you will find Ray Bethell, the “One-Man Team,” wowing the crowds.

Just up the hill from Ray, visitors can get hands-on demonstrations of all the latest products from Revolution Kites and Prism Designs on the demonstration fields. Backing up the demo fields is the giant HighlineKites.com tent, where you can get the latest kites. Behind the kite tent you’ll see hundreds of kids enjoying the free kite making and behind them, a designated area along the ridge for families and their kites. Each area of the festival will give you a different taste of what kiting has to offer. If you find that your stomach should start to growl, simply follow ridgeline west to the widest array of food offerings ever seen at the BKF. Need a full meal? How about sushi, Thai food or seafood? Just want a snack? How about corn on the cob, pretzels or our favorite, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream? Everything looks so good, you’ll wish you could have one of each!

Kite Competitions:
We are excited to have the Bay Area Sport Kite League back again as the organizer of the West Coast Kite Championships at the 2007 Berkeley Kite Festival. The BASKL Board of Directors is working tirelessly to ensure that kite competitions continue to thrive at the Berkeley Kite Festival. For registration information see the enclosed BASKL registration form or visit BASKL on line at www.BASKL.org.

[Oshkosh] The Pacesetters Running Club is sponsoring a Family Fun Run starting at 5:00 - 7:00 pm at County Park in Oshkosh. The event organizers are hoping that the kiters would also attend and fill the sky with colorful kites to add to the excitement. It’s a great family event.

Please note that the running course starts and finished by the soccer fields...so perhaps this would be a good location to stake ground displays, etc.

Kathy Jankowski is on site contact for the event.
