[Boise] The train continues to grow, and should be more than 100 kites by Sept 5. We'll fly as many as wind and weather permit during the Weiser HS all-class reunion, and at smaller reunions with family and friends duing the weekend in the Snake River Valley.

Special activity Sat., 9/6 only - a Remembrance celebrating the lives of Rick Gardner, Tom Brailey and JD Wilson. Mystery Ballet competition both days, Pairs Sat., Solo Sun. Novice Fighter Kite Comp. Saturday. Grandparents Wind Sprints Sunday.

[Long Beach] This seven year old event is a kiting tribute to those lost on 9-11. There will be big kites on the beach. Stunt kite demo’s. A Red, white , and blue kite giveaway. These kites will be flown as part of a special tribute fly. There will be live music. There will be a food vendor.

[Ogunquit] The 11th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites will be held on September 6, 2008 on the Ogunquit Beach from 10am to 2pm. The Festival is part of a two-week Festival of the Arts. Over 300 kites will be given away to kids to decorate and fly. All volunteers that help with set-up, kite decorating, or demonstrate any kite flying will receive a free Capriccio Kite Festival t-shirt and free parking. Come early, stay late, and help us flood the skies with kites

[Jackson] Prairie Wind’s 6th Annual Kite Fly is open and free to the public. Vast open spaces allow ample room for both professional kite fly enthusiasts and new kite flyers alike! Activities for kids, including a scavenger hunt, bol races, glider contests and more, music, concessions, PEBC’s own Kite Dr., kite making, kites for sale, and guest flyers from four states will make for a colorful and entertaining day for kids and grown-ups.

[Milwaukee] MOTS 2008...30 GREAT YEARS! WOW...30 years. THE WORLD will be WATCHING US FLY! "The 30th Annual Time Warner Cable Frank Mots International Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, September 13th,& Sunday September 14th, 2008, in Veterans Park on Milwaukee's Lakefront from 10:00 am until 5:00Pm Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00pm on Sunday. County Executive Scott Walker will kick off the festival at 12 noon with the Caribou Coffee grand launch of hopefully 500 kites. That's right...two great days of flying. The event is sponsored by the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, and Gift of Wings, and our newest sponsors, Time Warner Cable, 102.1 WLUM, B93.3, and 1290am WMCS. Featured performers include Chicago Fire, featuring Eric Wolfe, the new Revolution Kite Flying Team...IQUAD, featuring John Barresi for the second year at Mots. The return of Mr. Kite and his 450 ft Dragon. St Elmos Fires will be back on the field. Welcome Bob and Karen Roehl. Mots also will feature Josh and Zach Gordon, Charlie Sotich, Team Pegasus…John and Elaine Cosby all the way from Puerto Rico, Mr. Incredible, Dave Bush, ( who by the way is now famous), Dan Newman, Paul Koepke, Paula Schenk, Mike Delfar, Ann Vondriska, & Donna Schenk as Mrs Kite Lady, and the GIANT kites of Yves LaForest. Yves Laforest will feature the giant Octopus Kite, along with the Giant Star, and all the other giant kites in his inventory. Yves will be teaming up with Gary Mark and Don Brownridge from Toronto, for one of the largest display of unusual kites in the Country.The Caribou Coffee Grand Launch of around 500 kites will take place directly at noon. [Pocatello] Cancer survivors and families and friends will build kites for the memorial flies at the Idaho Kite Festival. Ribbon colors for all cancers will be available, and patriotic kites or kites of your own design can be made. The JACL Legacy Fund has provided a grant, The Sky's The Limit! provides the volunteers, so all is without charge. The miniature kite train of all the colors of cancer will be on display.

[Chelmsford, Essex, UK] The 2nd year for this combined Hot Air Balloon & Kite Festival. With International Flyers in attendance, about 40 Balloonists confirmed so far and a night burn by the balloons sequenced to music and fireworks, then followed by a night fly by the kites.

[Cherry Valley] Come join us in filling the skies over historic and beautiful Cherry Valley with kites of every size and shape. Fliers from near and far are invited to join in this wonderful rural celebration that will take place on a farm that is part of the National Register of Historic Places. Live music, hayrides, a barbeque, a pot-luck dinner and dance party will be part of the wonderful welcome for fliers. There are a limited number of free accommodations for fliers contributing performances, workshops, decorative elements and other substantial attractions to the event. [West Sayville] The Long Island Maritime Museum's first ever kite festival. Located on the shore of long Island sound the museum grounds make a great location for kiting fun. Come see the big show kites, Fly your own kite or make one in the kite making workshop. Enjoy the Bol races. Food and kite vendors will be on hand. This is a fund riser for the Museum. Come out, have fun, and help out.

[BRIDPORT Dorset] A family friendly fun event in a beautiful location, overlooking Lyme Bay, raising funds for local school and games field as well as a school in Africa

[Jekyll Island] This is the first edition of what is planned to be an annual event. the JIBE is planned as a loosely organize rally-style kite buggy event and fun fly. Jekyll Island Beach is a fantastic buggy venue.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center located on the Island and will include a private tour one moring (during high tide).

[San Francisco] The 2nd Annual Kites for Cancer Awareness event brings Bay Area residents together to fly a kite and raise awareness about cancer. Kite flight takes place on the beautiful and always windy Marina Green in San Francisco from 12noon - 4pm on Saturday October 4th, 2008.
Kites are provided and there is a $25 registration fee. Goodybags to the first 100 registered flyers. Kite decorating, Kite decorating contest, face painting, refreshments and an "In Honor of" kite launch to remember those affected by cancer. A fun family event to be enjoyed by people of all ages!
