[Glencoe] A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE!! Chicago Botanic Garden..August 8th & 9th! KSWI in partnership with Gift of Wings and the Chicago Botanic Garden presents our Fifth Annual Kite Festival at the Garden, featuring the Chicago Fire, Josh and Zach Gordon, Dan Newman, Mike Delfar, Ann Vondriska Brinnehl, and Paul Koepke and Kathy Brinnehl. Featuring performances from Fire and Ice, and Something Old, Something new. A highlight of the weekend will be Charlie Sotich and his kite making workshop for the kids of Chicago. The festival will be located in a relatively small flying field, west of the main entrance. Kite flyers will have one nice area to fly during this event. The times are 10:00 am until 4:00 pm each day. The gardens were voted as the third best attraction in the Chicagoland area, so plan to spend the entire day flying kites and visiting this beautiful park. This is our fifth annual event and we want to make a very good impression. There is a small parking fee. This is another wonderful kite flying event brought to you by the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois, and your friends at Gift of Wings.....Now the number ONE kite festival in the Chicagoland area. .

[Long Beach] WSIKF is 7 days of kite fun on the beach in Long Beach, WA. There are events scheduled everyday. Vendors line the approach. There is fun for the whole family!

First, work up an appetite flying for a couple of hours before going to the home of Glenn Sheets to enjoy a nice meal with your kiting friends! This is a pitch-in picnic so please bring a side dish. The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks.

[Berkeley] FREE KITE CLINIC PRESENTED BY THE BAY AREA SPORT KITE LEAGUE WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHN BARRESI

Saturday August 29, 2009, the Bay Area Sport Kite League (BASKL) will give a free kite flying clinic at Cesar Chavez Park/Berkeley Marina from 10am – 5pm.

This clinic is for all skill levels with dual, quadline, and fighter kite interests.
We will focus on beginner to advance.

Come out to the park and spend a day learning how to fly your kite or honing your kite flying skills.

Have you ever wanted to know how to fly quad team? Now is your chance to learn. John will be on hand to teach quad skills and quad team. (You must have basic quadline skills to fly team.) We will return to the park on Sunday for more quadline and dual line free flying.


We would like to know if you are planning to attend the clinic. Please RSVP to president@baskl.org Also, include your area of interest and how many people will be participating in your group. We encourage all ages to attend.

[Callaway] 19th annual fun fly in a beautiful pasture in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Ultra-friendly village of Callaway host this family-friendly and Fly Zone ready event complete with lots of kids activities (including candy drops), home made concessions and kite vendors on site. [Two Rivers] The 4th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan continues to grow in size and reputation. This is now one of the largest kite festivals in the Midwest and attracts kitefliers from all over. Come and marvel at the giant show kites, precision stunt kite teams flying dual- and quad-line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays, running of the bols and games for kids. There will be a night fly on Saturday night and a bonfire on the beach. New this year will be the release of sky lanterns on the beach. On Sunday, there will be free kite making for kids and another day of kite flying and performances.
