[Farmland] The Farmland Center Saturday (May 4th) will debut an exhibit of kites made by the late legendary Farmland kite-maker Ansel Toney.
The Ansel Toney Kite Show will begin with an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit will remain on display through August 31 during The Farmland Center's regular business hours.
Historic Farmland USA Director Darrin Murrell said Ansel Toney, perhaps more than any other resident of Farmland, truly embodied the essence of what the local community is all about - talent, craftsmanship, hard work, artistic expression, individualism and integrity.
"He was also noted for his homespun friendliness and warmth with which he greeted every guest and poured into every kite he ever made," Murrell said.

[Milwaukee] Fireworks Kite Festival - July 3, 2013..BOOM BOOM..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2arc18xynAM KSWI in conjunction with Gift of Wings, US Bank, and Your Milwaukee County Parks, www.CountyParks.com, will sponsor our annual Fireworks Kite Festival. Featuring the Giant Kites of Gift of Wings, this is a fun fly and all are welcome to participate. Our goal is to fill the sky with as many kites as possible. This is a FUN FLY, and we will be flying the Mega Kites of Gift of Wings. Times from 11:00 am until 7:00 PM. The fireworks start at 9:25 pm. We have set aside a huge area of Veterans Park just for kite fliers. So fly a kite and get the best seats in the house for the greatest fireworks show on Earth. Well...in my opinion, of course. Now understand that traffic and parking are a real mess for this event, so come early and don’t plan on leaving until after the fireworks are finished at 10:15pm. In other words, plan your whole day in the park. It’s a blast.

[Brookings-Harbor] Since 1993, the Southern Oregon Kite Festival (SOKF) has been one of the premier kite festivals in the United States, bringing some of the most well known kite fliers and kite makers to perform and display their creations for locals and tourists alike… This invitational event originated as the dream of kite hobbyist Steve O’Brien and as the creation of Larry and Lynn Goodman, former owners of KCRE radio station in Crescent City, California. Beginning in 2001, the Port of Brookings Harbor assumed sponsorship of the festival. In 2006, the kite festival became a non-profit organization managed by a dedicated group of community volunteers.
