[Ship Bottom/ Brant Beach] The First Annual LBI Fly International Kite Festival will feature celebrity kite fliers from the east coast and Canada. The festival will be kicked off with an indoor fly that will be open to the public. Throughout the weekend, there will be artist kites, banner and wind gardens displays, fighter kite demonstrations, single line kites, and sport kite demonstrations with individual and team flying. Children kite making, candy drops and bol racing will be offered to the public. Miniture butterfly kite workshop will represent the migration of the Monarch butterflies to our beautiful island.

[Burton] Century Village is a collection of original buildings from Burton’s past which can be toured so bring kids for a dose of hands-on American History. The entrance fee lets you walk through them at no charge, but we aren’t paying any fees since we are part of the entertainment.
We are allowed to park behind the orchard, right at our flying area, which is a bluff overlooking eastern Geauga County. You are welcome to wear a poke bonnet or settler type gear, and DO bring any OLD kites you might have, such as square, diamond, or box kites appropriate to the era. NEW kites are welcome, too, as are national colors! And, since we will be there on Sunday of One Sky One World, join the many thousands of people worldwide who will also be flying kites on this day. The concept – one envelope of air surrounds our globe and one wind carries our kites aloft, so we can join “hands” with people everywhere. The original idea of observing this day is both environmental and peace-minded. Just a year ago the liberated Afghan people were once again allowed to fly kites. Let’s join them and hope for a world where everybody is welcome to fly a kite and breathe free, clean air.

[Wakefield] My Wind Stuff will be hosting the first Family Kite Festival in Wakefield at the High School at 802 Highland St., October 16,17,18. We will start a short demo show on Friday afternoon up until the Hot Air Balloons launch around 4:30 then continue all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. We will be displaying many large promotional pieces as well as teaching dual line and quad line basics. We always have a large selection of kites on hand for sale as well as offering kite repairs for most brands. Their should be plenty of space to fly even during the balloon launches in separate fields. The community is having a parade, craft show, car show, 5k run/walk. Wakefield is not too far from Souix City, Iowa, or Omaha, Nebraska. This is a great opportunity to come and show off your kites and flying talents to a community that sees very little kite flying. Let’s help inspire these folks to enjoy the great world of kiting! Free admission !Contact Curt at My Wind Stuff 785-483-1309 for additional information.

[Miami Beach] Hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites, these free events feature demonstrations from longtime kite enthusiasts. In addition, there will be kite-flying competitions for both children and adults
We especially encourage folks that can make their kites in their traditional styles from countries they may want to represent. In years past, we have had kites in the traditional styles of countries like The Bahamas, China, Colombia, Jamaica, Trinidad, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and many more. It is a fantastic way to celebrate the unique diversity of cultures that South Florida has.
People of all ages are encouraged to come out to fly their kites, make their own kites for free or purchase an already-made kite. There is no limitation to the size and type of kite. Those who just want to watch can bring a blanket and enjoy the sight of hundreds of kites in the air and some great live music. Food and refreshments & kites will be available for purchase

[Boston] Visit Boston’s Fenway District and enjoy free admission to all of Boston’s museums, cultural sites, and musical attractions. Enjoy indoor kite flying at the Boston YMCA, 316 Huntington Avenue, Boston.
All visitors are invited to make a kite and fly it indoors!
