Description:
Last year around this time, “Liberty Remembers: A Kitefliers’ Tribute“ was held to honor those effected by the events of 9-11. It was truly one of the most powerful kiting events ever held in the area. This year’s event we would like to focus on kites and all the positives that comes with the sport naturally while never forgetting what happened on 9-11. Although this year the added sport kite competition will enhance the event, we would like to keep single line kites in the forefront. Single line area will be main staged at the south end of the green lawn. It’s a round field outlined by a bike path. While you are not confined to this area, it would best to keep some of the larger kites in the area. If space becomes an issue, there is still plenty of room out side of the round field that can be used. Gary Engval will be heading the single kite field. Terry Murry will be the MC and soundman for the single line folk. This year marks the 13 annual fall competition known as the NJSKC. The event originated and was held in Sandy Hook for 5 years. Then moved on to the beach in Belmar, NJ, the “Train Station” in Liberty State Park, and Wildwood, NJ in the past. Now its back at Liberty State Park and will take place at a new location within the park known as the Green Lawn. This is the same location as “Liberty Remembers” last year which enjoyed two sunny days of perfect on shore pure kite lifting breeze.
