Comments:
Although fighting kites (petangs} have a long tradition in India just as in other parts of Asia, the Festival also hosts every other kind of kite and one of the highlights is a kite bazaar, open for 24 hours a day. Kites can also be seen flying from almost every rooftop in the city. The excitement does not end at nightfall when illuminated stacks of box kites are launched. Called tukals, they add a fitting climax to a very special festival. There are many kite clubs in India, one of which is affiliated to the AKA.
