Description:
On April 22-23, 2006, the Cardome Centre in Georgetown, Kentucky, will be hosting its Sixth Annual Kite and Culture Festival. Growing in popularity each year, the Festival attracts thousands of people each spring.
Highlights of the event include: Free Kite Building, Kite Design Competition, Fun Flying, a variety of Kite Vendors, the International Food Court, where samplings of foreign foods may be tried, International Music and Dance Exhibitions, Non-Stop Entertainment, and Cultural Exhibits
Children are invited to do a variety of cross-cultural crafts from different parts of the world. Several nations will be represented at this educational and fun event.
Late breaking news - A large contengent from the Tahara Kite Preservation Society will be attending this year, coming all the way from our sister city - Tahara-cho, Japan. They will be building small "one-sheet" kites similar to the larger Japaneese battle kites which they will demonstrate throughout the weekend. Come out and say hello to our kiting friends from across the Pacific in this rare opportunity to witness the ancient tradition of bamboo and paper battle kites!
