Hammonasset Kite Festival –
Saturday & Sunday, May 19 & 20, 2007 – 11 AM to 4 PM.
Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison, CT, Exit 62 from I-95.
Come fly kites with some of the best kite flyers in the country. See award winning kites.
There will be demonstrations by National Champion kite flyers.
There will be Peter Lynn Show Kites from New Zealand. The Manta Ray kite is 35 feet wide and 100 feet long.
Witness a Rokkaku Battle where a dozen or so people take to the demonstration field and fight with their kites. This is a centuries old Japanese tradition that has found its place in today’s kite festivals.
There is a field set aside for anyone and everyone to fly their kites.
Sea Side Kites from Hull, MA is the premier kite vender throughout New England. They have a great selection of kites and they all fly.
Bring a picnic lunch or buy food at the Snack Bar on the boardwalk. The Snack Bar has burgers and hot dogs and fries and clams and such.
There is no rain date.
