Settled in 1753, Bethabara is the site of the first Moravian settlement in the Carolinas and the birthplace of Forsyth County. Historic Bethabara Park, Inc., a non-profit organization, was established in 1970 to bequeath the Moravian heritage to the future in trust and to maintain a historic museum at the 175-acre site. Historic Bethabara is a North Carolina WILD Education Site, a local historic district, on the National Register of Historic Places, and designated by the United States Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark.
