Description:
Sakura Sunday is the main event of the Subaru of America Cherry Blossom Festival in Philadelphia’s Fairmont Park. South Jersey Kite Flyers has participated (weather allowing) for 4 years. This year, SJKF in addition to kids kite making will attempt to stage some bol races down a cherry tree lined allee. For over ten years, the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia has planted 100 new cherry trees each year. There are over 1,000 cherry trees now all under 10 years old. This event continues to grow each year. As many as 5,000 people show up and if the weather’s nice this year, the sky’s the limit.

Comments:
If tyvek sleds for kids aren't your thing, the Philadelphia Museum of Art will also be there selling coy carp windsocks. Lots of Japanese food. And, each year the Sakura Sunday event includes several performances by Taiko Drummers from an arts college in Tokyo. The girls troupe in kimonas. The guys in Samurai warrior garb.
