April is National Kite Month in Lincoln City proclamationWhereas, Kite flying is family friendly, nonpolluting, healthy, educational, outdoor oriented, and fun.Whereas kite flying and kite fliers, from Benjamin Franklin to Charlie Brown, are a constructive and quintessential part of our own American culture.Whereas the American Kitefliers Association and the Kite Trade Association International have designated April to be National Kite Month and are promoting kite festivals and kite workshops across the entire country.Whereas "Fly Lincoln City: Kite Capital of the World" sponsored by the Lincoln City Visitor & Convention Bureau and the Lincoln City Kite Friendship Association is planned for April 8-10, 2005 and on the second weekend in April each year thereafter (April 11 & 12, 2009) throughout Lincoln City.Be it hereby resolved that the City of Lincoln City, Oregon officially designate April to be Lincoln City, Oregon's Kite Month.Be it further resolved that the City of Lincoln City encourages everyone to participate in the joy and excitement of kite flying and urges all citizens to "Go Fly a Kite!"Therefore, I, Lori Hollingsworth, Mayor of Lincoln City, Oregon proclaim the second weekend in April, beginning April 8-10, 2005, to be Kite Month in Lincoln City.Dated this day of 2005 Lori Hollingsworth, Mayor
