After many months of working with various groups to bring a kite festival to the Pope John Paul II (PJP) Park, we have recently completed successful negotiations and are pleased to announce the "Kites on the River Festival" scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2009 (rain date August 23rd). The Boston Natural Area Network, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Oldies 103 and Sea Side Kites will partner together to present this first annual event. The venue will include show kites, sport kite demos and kid's activities.
Plans include several different activities for children including the ever-popular bol races. Fliers will be encouraged to display their show kites on the Hallett Street side of the park, while the Galvin Blvd. side (soccer field) will be available for demos to be performed several times throughout the day.
This is an open invitation to all fliers to participate and support this new event. Featured fliers will be announced by the Oldies 103 DJ’s. If you would like
