Description:
Learn the elements of kite construction — for the joys of flying or purely for the sculptural form. This two-day workshop begins with a slide talk that highlights contemporary and traditional kite forms from around the globe. Special emphasis is paid to the connections between contemporary art and the practice of kite-making and flying. The first project is a simple kite to introduce the materials and aerodynamic requirements of a functional kite. Next design and build a unique project — some will fly, others intentionally will not. Includes materials.
