The Los Alamos Kite Festival is an annual three day event for kite enthusiasts of all ages as well as kite artists. The free event begins with a Friday night concert and night lighted kite fly. Saturday and Sunday there are free kite building workshops for children from 12-2 p.m. and kite flying from 10-5 p.m. each day. Each child that builds a kite receives an event t-shirt with thanks to Los Alamos National Bank, the sponsor of the event. Vendor kites and food are available for sale.

Directions:
|
Take highway 285 from Santa Fe to Pojoaque, take NM 502 toward Los Alamos, take NM State Rd. 4 to White Rock. Turn left at the signal (by the White Rock)onto Rover Blvd. Take a left onto Meadow Lane, follow this for take a left onto Overlook Dr. The kite flying area will be on the soccer fields to the right.

The festival is a great funfilled weekend attracting approximately 1200 people or more. Come out and bring a kite, build a kite, fly a kite, or just take in the artful scene.
