The 2011 winter retreat will again be held at the fabulous Turf Valley resort. Robert Brasington will come all the way from Tasmania present two projects: the "Kindness of Strangers," a wide aspect single-line with flowing gossamer tail, and one of his great kinetic spinners. From the local club Wings Over Washington, Ron Petalito, will present a kite he designed specially for MKS Retreat: the "MKS Koi Kite." This is a singl-line kite made from inexpensive butcher paper and wood dowels. There will also be other small crafts for non-kite builders. The gathering hall is a large, column-free space with lots of windows that look over the golf course. Every registrant will be provided with an 8' table and access to power. The Retreat will have a Friday evening "Get aquainted" social, and a banquet with auction on Sunday evening. (Donations welcome.)

From the Baltimore area go west on I-70 to exit 83 (Marriottsville Rd.). At the stop sign turn left onto Marriottsville Rd. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Route 40. Go 7/10 mile and turn left onto Turf Valley Rd. Turf Valley\'s entrance will be on your left.
