The 29th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival, hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites, is scheduled for June 11th and 12th, 2011, from 10A.M. to 4P.M. The festival will be held on the dunes of Jockey's Ridge State Park, located at mile post 12.5 on highway 158. This is a free event and is open to the public. The Rogallo Kite Festival includes two days of kite flying to honor Francis Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. His inventions started the sport of hang gliding and his designs have carried over into the stunt kites, power kites and hang gliders that are flown today.
