Description:
9:30 to 1:30 Kite Making and Weather Observatory lessons for 2 Classes of grade 5 students. Kite enthusiasts including Members of KONE and AKA are invited to do kite demonstrations and fun flying from 9:30 to 3:30.

Directions:
The Blue Hill Observatory is located at the summit of Great Blue Hill on the Blue Hills Reservation at the junction of Routes 93 and 138 about 10 miles south of Boston. The closest parking is at the Blue Hill Ski Area or the adjacent Trailside Museum at 1904 Canton Avenue in Milton, MA. Hiking trails lead to the summit from these parking areas. The summit access road is not open to public vehicles; the walk up the hill to the Observatory along the summit road is approximately one mile. Trail maps and information are available at the Trailside Museum. From the North:Take either Route 128/95 south or Route 93 south to the Route 138 exit in Canton (Exit 2). Follow Route 138 north approximately 1 mile north through one set of traffic lights to the Blue Hill Ski Area and Trailside Museum parking area on the right. Hiking trails lead to the summit of Great Blue Hill from these parking lots. From the South:Take Route 95 or Route 3 north to Route 93 to the Route 138 exit in Canton (Exit 2). Kite enthusiasts are encouraged to share your kites and passion with these students. The Observatory has kites for sale, accessories, and snacks. You can also get a tour of the Observatory after 2:00.
