    Description:

Sky Fest continues a tradition of 20 years of kite flying at Ft. Stevenson State Park. During this family fun event, we will have a nice assortment of kites from kid kites to large inflatables and ground bouncers as well. Both in-state and out-of-state kite flyers have been invited and confirmed. A small concession stand is offered (state board of health approved) and Prairie Wind Kite Company is the kite vendor. The airport is 5 miles (approx) away. My husband and brother-in-law are both pilots, so I know who to call for the notems. There are no power lines on the flying field, just one kite eating tree row and a flag pole on top of the fort. (humor here) There will be no competitive kite flying. Saturday will feature a kite making class and the kites of the day will be Mike Shaw and Deb Lenzen's art kites. Sunday will feature a candy drop and the kites of the day will be cellular. Monday will feature bol races (small) and the kites of the day will be Red/White/Blue anything. Don and Betty Murphy and Mark Brandt will be flying large inflatables and foils/sleds during the entire weekend.
