Shawnee Sister Cities Council is sponsoring Shawnee’s First Kite Festival. We are inviting area kite flyers to come and show off their stunt kites, show kites, or just come and enjoy the fun. There will be contests in several categories including smallest, largest and most unique. Pam Thomason will be our vendor for kites and kite equipment. Steve Thomason may bring his kite buggies. The gathering is open to all AKA members and the general public.THis is not a serious competition just a fun day to share kites! We hope to make this an annual event. Please come on out and join us!

Directions:

Shawnee is approx. 35 miles east of Oklahoma City on I-40. Take Shawnee Kickapoo exit and turn right (south) onto Kickapoo. Continue until Independence (5th light) and turn right onto Independence. turn right on Airport Road (Jiffy lube on corner) and the Japanese Garden will be on your left. Parking attendance will guide you.
