Description:
The National Cherry Blossom Festival is kicking off kite season celebrating 50 years of kite flying on the National Mall! This event carries the legacy of the Smithsonian Kite Festival, which first took place in 1967, establishing a strong tradition of kite makers competitions and displays. In 2010, the tradition became a part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival as the Blossom Kite Festival. Now in its sixth year, the Blossom Kite Festival showcases the creativity of kite makers and skill of fliers from across the US and other countries. Attendees can compete in a variety of competitions including the popular Hot Tricks Showdown and Rokkaku Battle. All interested kite clubs are encouraged to keep this 50 year tradition blooming by setting up displays and participating in exciting demonstrations and competitions.

The rain date/time is Sunday, April 3rd from 12:00-6:30 PM.
