Description:
Every Labor Day weekend since 1991, the village of Callaway, Nebraska, welcomes anyone and everyone to “Come Fly a Kite”! Professional and amateur kite fliers decorate the skies over the breathtakingly beautiful Nebraska countryside. The event is sanctioned by the AKA (American Kitefliers Association). Children and adults can enjoy the large colorful kites flown by our professional kite fliers. Visitors can bring their own kites or purchase a kite from one of our kite vendors. The event runs on the Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event is located just 4 miles SE of Callaway, along Hwy 40, at Foster Smith Field. This is approximately 60 miles NW of Kearney and 70 miles NE of North Platte. Admission is $2 per person, per day. Children 3 and under are free. Parking is also free. Concessions are available at the event and Callaway businesses will also be open. Bring a chair or blanket and plenty of sunscreen. Callaway Kite Flight is an amazing event that has hosted hundreds of guests each year from at least 21 nations and 29 states since the event began in 1991.
