Celebrate the colorful world of kites during a this Chinese Kite Festival on Maui at the Wo Hing Museum in Lahaina on Friday from 2 to 7 pm. Enjoy an exhibit of handmade kites in traditional and modern styles. Participate in making a giant tetrahedral kite or purchase one of the many kites for sale. Hear a talk on the significance and history of kites around the world. There will be Chinese music and entertainment, cultural games, Chinese tea in the garden. On Saturday, go fly a kite! This family event takes place at the Lahaina Cannery Mall Open Space Lawn off Hwy. 30 from 9 am to 2 pm. Watch aerial displays of acrobatic sport kites, a Chinese dragon kite and kite fighting by members of Hawaii Kitefliers Association. Fly your own kite for prizes; it’s all FREE.
