Description:

The Bemelmans Festival is in honor of Ludwig Bemelmans, author of the "Madeline" children’s picture books, who was stationed at Fort Ontario. An Historic Site and NY State Park, the location is on a bluff above the shores of Lake Ontario, with Westerly winds often providing incredible flying conditions. It also overlooks the Oswego Harbor and Lighthouse. The Kiting events have been woven into the what was a lengthy, city-wide event last year. The hosting all-volunteer organization, The Friends Of The Fort will be providing a detailed schedule on line that will be filled as the date gets closer. First organizational meeting is 1/18/2018. Kiters are welcome all day long; the park closes officially at dusk. Parking is on site and free.
