WRKF (CA)
[White Rock] The largest kite event in Western Canada located 5 minutes north of the USA/Canada border at I-5. The beach is a tidal beach with 8 good hours of sand, sun, fun and large crowds. Encouraged and sponsored by the local community, this event is a great time where everyone is welcome.
         
[Chipley] The Washington County Balloon Festival coordinators have asked us to come and do some kite demos for them. Show off some kites and pass out some information.
         
[Muncie] Ansel Toney was a kiteflier, kitemaker and great man who was officially recognized by the State of Indiana as "Kiteman of Indiana" and has been an inspiration to kite enthusiasts from all over the country. The Hoosier Kitefliers Society is honoring his memory and family name by hosting a two-day kite festival at the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana on May 3rd and 4th, 2003. The festivities will include: -Kite making workshops! Children get to "make and take" the kites they build. Kids get a real sense of satisfaction when they fly the kite that they made themselves, and is evident by the smiles on their faces. -A "Grand Ascension" of kites made by Ansel. -Sport Kite competitions The grounds of the AMA are kept in pristine condition by full time staff and are a pure pleasure to fly kites on. Come join us for two days of stress-free fun!

[Ocean Shores] First sport kite competition of the season. Planned as a one day event. About 20-50 fliers will attend, 2-3 teams, and 2-5 sets of pairs. This is a NWSKL event, so all fliers should show up at 9.00 to help set up and stay to take down.
         
[Grinnell] Clinic on kite-making for children - Sport kite competition - largest and smallest kite competition - Indoor kite flying - Night flying with lights - Kite vendors - Evening banquet, etc. Last year’s event drew approximately 850 participants and spectators.
KF 2003 (NY)
[Rochester] Kite Flight 2003, an annual event of expert kite flying demonstrations, public kite flying and family entertainment, soars in again to Ontario Beach Park, 10 am-4 pm, Sun., May 4. Event will be held at the Robach Community Center and on the beach. Participants will enjoy a colorful sky full of kites of assorted construction, as expert kite flyers give a kite flying demonstration, and other amateur kite-flyers try their skills in the sky. Kite Flight visitors may bring their own kites to fly or purchase from the large selection of kite from the Wonder Works display. 10 am - 4 pm Kite Sale 11 am - 3 pm Expert Kite Flying Demonstration 12 noon-3 pm Rochester Juggling Club 1 pm Just Foolin’ Around 12noon-4 pm Public Kite Flying
         
The Murray (IN)
[Valparaiso/Chesterton] The 6th annual CMMKF, or "The Murray" has become an annual regional event drawing kite flyers from all over the midwest. The emphasis has always been to bring the enjoyment of kite flying to as many new folks as possible. The focus continues to be putting kites into many hands. Each year new and returning kite flyers stop in to show off their newest kites, tune-up for other events and competitions, come out to help with the "kids-n-kites" areas, or just to enjoy kites in the air. Sunset Hill Farm County Park is easy to get to, just off either I-94, I-80/90, US Rt 30. It is part of "Dunes Country" an easy bike ride from the Indiana Dunes Recreation Areas, Valparaiso University, and other attractions. 50 miles east of downtown Chicago. Food and kite venders will be on site, as well as the Porter County Parks Naturalist staff to assist with park tours and interpretive services.
[Langhorne, PA 19047] A FREE event for the entire family; kite flying exhibitions, educational, children’s workshop, gummy bear drops, petting zoo, hayrides, sand art, boat rentals and much more. Bring a blanket, buy a kite or bring your own and enjoy a fun-filled educational day in the park

[Loch Sheldrake] The 12th Annual Sullivan County Community College Kite Day, now serves as the premire Kite Festival in upstate New York. The annual event amazes the 1500+ spectators each year with sport kite demos, a running of the Bols, and a Rokkaku battle. The event is followed by the NYKE annual banquet and auctions, an event not to be missed.

[Brookfield] Sled kite workshop with 500 kids to be held at St Dominic School in Brookfield, WI. After the workshop member of the KSWI will help the kids fly their kites and then put on a stunt kite demonstration.
[Swindon, UK (75 miles W of Londo] The Swindon International Kite Festival is very laid back, with the emphasis on kite flyers coming along and enjoying themselves, in flying and socialising with other kite people. There are workshops, displays, parachuting teddies ... no competitions, just two large arenas for 2/4 line flying, and one for single line kites, the rest of the park is opened for the public to bring their kites and join in.
         
[Marina] The 4th annual Festival to be held over Mother’s day weekend is a two-day family oriented event including kite flying, hang gliding, food, vendor and informational booths, live music and entertainment, kid’s crafts, kite making workshops and giant kite demos, a wind-related science and technology tent and a giant inflatable air park.

[Long Beach] Eddy and Anne Magarth of Scunthorpe in the North of England designed the Fledge kite. The original was so exciting, many people tampered with it. From this combination of FLare, EDdy, and GEnki grew a long flowing tale, and that’s what Barry Poulter will be teaching in this class. You will need your sewing machines and accoutrements.
         
[Milwaukee] The 16th annual Family Kite Festival featuring St. Elmos Fire, Mr. Kite, Mike Delfar, Jim Wirt, Yves LaForest and Anne Clement. Sponsored by Gift of Wings, the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, and WJZI Radio. Free to all and plenty of free parking.
         
[San Francisco] This is an AKA sanctioned competition. Dual-line, quad-line, kite making and fighters will be included. AKA and BASKL points will be awarded. Pilots meeting at 10am.

[Madison] This unique event combines the centuries old pastime of kite flying- its art, color and tradition- with today’s high tech designs, fabrics and flying acrobatics that can be enjoyed by the entire family. As kites reach into the skies, Middlesex Hospital reaches into the community: into homes, schools, industry, community agencies, libraries, even the arts. The SoundWinds Kite Festival is an opportunity to celebrate this partnership with the communities served by Middlesex Hospital. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Hospital’s new Cancer Center and community outreach programs.

[Indianapolis] This is a brand new event for the HKS! The park’s event organizers have invited the club to hold a family-oriented fun fly to draw people to the White River State Park and surrounding attractions. There are to be two fields: one for single-line kites and one for stunt kites with a nice view of the White River, canal and some of the downtown Indy skyline. [Galesburg] The Kites Over Lake Storey is a two day event for all kite enthusiasts. The festival will interest all age groups in activites related to kite building and flying. Kites Over Lake Storey will be held in Galesburg Illinois May 31 and June 1, 2003.
         
[Mexico Beach] The G.E.C.K.O. Flyers are trying to incourage more folks to pick up a kite and come fly. This is a fun fly open to any and all who would like to participate. Spectators are welcome, flyers are wanted!!!
