RØMØ - Denmark (Denmark)
[Lakolk] Starting in 1989 and now becoming the second biggest kiteevent in Denmark - but the biggest counting the visitors.
         
[West Magic] This event is a fun fly for all types of kiting. There will be Kite buggying and landboarding. Fighter kites, sports kites, single line kites. All are welcome. This event should be the largest show kite ascension in the Idaho Intermountain region this year. Several sq miles of dry lake bed make up the venue. There is plenty of camping and a wonderful pub that over looks the lake.

Free overnight camping available only for self-contained camping. (No bathing facilities.)

[Two Rivers] Inaugural kite festival featuring the kite collections of many invited fliers like the Gombergs, Bowdens, Rymaszewskis, Wagners, Jeff Hale, Kathy Brinnehl and Paul Koepke and many others. In addition to kite flying, there will be bol racing, food booths and music. The festival starts at 11am and ends at 4pm both days.

We will pay tribute to our Armed Forces, Fireman, Police, EMS, Construction Workers & Clean-up crews, many of the unsung heroes and ordinary individuals who came together and did the extraordinary. The flying of colorful kites respectfully recognizes all those who survived, and those whose spirits have soared. We hope this event will foster unity, hope and healing. 2006 will be our 4th year. "The 28th Annual Frank Mots International Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, September 9th,& Sunday September 10th, 2006, in Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s Lakefront from 10:00 am until 5:00Pm Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00pm on Sunday. County Executive Scott Walker will kick off the festival at 12 noon with a grand launch of hopefully 500 kites. That’s right...two great days of flying. The event is sponsored by the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois, and Gift of Wings, and our newest sponsors, WLUM Rock 1021, Smooth Jazz WJZI, and 1290am WMCS. [Ogunquit] The 9th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites will be held on the Ogunquit Beach from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 9th, 2006. The Festival is part of a two-week long Festival of the Arts. Over 300 kites will be given away to kids to decorate and fly. Any AKA or KONE members that help with the kite decorating or demonstrate dual line, quad line, or single line kites will receive a free t-shirt and free parking. Come early, stay late, and help us flood the sky with kites.
[St. Louis] We are going to Forest Park again. Go “back to school” and try a new kite. Just let us know what you want to try out and chances are someone may have it, or something similar for you to have a go with.
         
[Jackson] This 4th annual kite fly will be held in a new location this year with accomodations for two flying fields - one for the serious kite enthusiasts and another nearby for the casual fliers of all ages! The Ecology Bus, a mobile science laboratory and classroom will be on site with free activities of a windy theme, along with kite making for kids, contests and door prizes throughout the day! Demonstrations of quad-line stunt kites will be offered throughout the afternoon! More kite fly features will be added in the coming months, so check back for updated information!

[Cape Town] The 12th annual international kite festival in Cape Town, at the southern tip of Africa. About 25 000 visitors over two days, and much more than kiting - carnival, stalls, entertainers. THis year once again we will be welcoming our old friend David Gomberg and his delegation as well as other inviated international guests.

[Ocean City] Bring the entire family and let your spirits soar! Join The Kite Loft for the best kite festival on the East Coast on Thursday, September 21 - 24, 2006. Thousands of spectators and kiting friends from across the country will meet in Ocean City, Maryland for five fun-filled days of kite competitions, games, relays, mass ascensions, workshops, fun and frolic.

This year The Kite Loft welcomes Mike Van Meers returning as our co-coordinator. Mike will be holding impromptu games for the entire family with opportunities to win one of many fun prizes.

Stroll along Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk and witness hundreds of beautiful ground and high flying displays. Afterwards cast a vote for your favorite display during the festival’s "People’s Choice" award.

         
[Washington] The city of Washington, MO will be holding a Revolutionary War re-enactment. The 1st Royal Regiment will be encamped. They will also have a re-encator portraying Benjamin Franklin.

In conjunction with this event, the city will offer a Kids’ Activity Tent. All activities in this tent will be free for the children. We have been invited to make kites with the children. We will have banners and "modern" kites on display and also a replica of Ben Franklin’s kite. So, join us in building or just stop by and say hello.
         
[Coupeville] The Whidbey Island Kite Festival is a small but very popular northwest event, including a 2-day AKA-sanctioned sportkite competition, single-line displays and open flying, kids' kitemaking, beginners' lessons, a teddybear drop for the kids, and a large raffle. AKA-sanctioned indoor fly at 7 pm in the high-school gym.

This event is well-attended by the public and grows every year. Held on grass and in a scenic location, it is the favorite local competition of most northwest competitors and many single-line flyers.
