The wind varies from very strong to light and presents a fun challenge to the professional kite enthusiast. [Johnston ] Johnston Kites on the Green is held on the Johnston Commons which is the grassy area located near the Johnston Public Library. This family-friendly kite festival is scheduled for the first Saturday in May and will feature giant show kite displays, celebrity bol races, free kite building, live music and delicious food!

[Waco] Free family event---100 free kites given away, games, bounce houses, music, candy drops, hula hoop contest, raffle, prize wheel, facepainting, food vendors, vendors. All net proceeds remain in central Texas to help hearing impaired children with hearing aids and scholarships. We also provide Region 12 schools with hearing screening audiometers and otoscopes in order to detect hearing impaired children at an early age.

[Wildwood] On the beach between E Hand Ave and E Burk Ave and the Wildwoods Convention Center, the 32nd annual Wildwoods International Kite Festival begins on Friday at noon with the Unlocking of the Ocean ceremony outside of the Wildwoods Convention Center. Festivities following include opening of the Kite Sales Tent, Friday Night Social via the local South Jersey Kite Flyers Club (all-you-can-eat buffet for $10 per person), and the 9:00pm Illuminated Night Kite Fly. Saturday and Sunday include sport kite demo’s, team flying and family games. Monday features the World Indoor Kite Competition inside the Wildwoods Convention Center. FREE to spectators. [Rockaway Beach] Sponsored by the American Kitefliers Association, the annual Rockaway Beach Kite Festival features professional and amateur kite fliers for the 20th year at the new Ocean’s Edge Wayside. The American Kitefliers Association is the largest organized group of kiters in the world and travels all over to spread the joy of kiting to people of all ages and skills. The event offers contests in a friendly, unofficial environment. Participants can compete to win awards for having the nicest kite, the kite that drags on the ground the longest before becoming airborne, and many other events. Children can join in the fun as they build and learn to fly small kites during special classes.
Anyone who wants to bring their own kite to fly is welcome and encouraged to do so. The Rockaway Beach Kite Festival also features live music, kite exhibitions, an array of vendors, and tasty meals all weekend. Come hungry, and bring a camera to photograph the beautiful kites that will grace the skies along the beach at the Ocean’s Edge Wayside.

Settle in with your picnic lunch and watch the Rev Riders Revolution Kite Team do dazzling tricks and jaw dropping performances to music with their specialized quad line kites.

The 2017 Sky Art Kite Festival is honored to be hosting a sports line competition this year, which will give the audience a peek into the world of professional kiting. [Milwaukee] The 30th Annual Wilde Subaru FAMILY KITE FESTIVAL, presented by Prairie Farms is scheduled for Saturday, May 27th and Sunday 28th 2017, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. NOW 2 days long! Sponsored by B93.3, FM 102/1 and Milwaukee’s True Oldies Station, Gift of Wings, and the Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois. Featured performers include Chicago Fire, The Windjammers, Josh Gordon, Dan Newman, Paul Koepke, Mike Delfar, and the Giant Kites of Yves Laforest and Anne Clement from Montreal, and Jean Lemire. You don’t want to miss this folks! The Wilde Subaru Family Kite Festival will be held in Veterans Park from 10 am until 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am until 5 pm on Sunday. The festival is free with plenty of free parking. The Fast Track Oil Centers Grand Launch of 500 kites will take place at noon. The Kaplin University Kids Mad Dash will take place at around 2:00 pm. Rhonda Begos will sing the National Anthem. This event will be shown live on the Internet! Kites and food will be sold at the festival. This celebration honors the 148th anniversary of the first Japanese colony in America who arrived at Gold Hill on June 8, 1869. American River Conservancy honors these early pioneers with a kite festival. Our kite festival includes entertainment, food and beer for purchase, a few booths, and a raffle. Bring your single-line kite, buy a new kite, or make your own kite to fly. Picnics are welcome, and bring along a chair. Proceeds will be used to the care for the historic Keyaki tree planted by the Wakamatsu colonists. $10 per car, additional for passenger vans and buses.
Performers & vendors include: Koyasan Taiko, Kohaku, Sarpika Tribal Dance, Butchers Kitchen, Julz Ice Cream, Old City Kites, Global Goods LLC., Good Earth Movement, face painting, origami, and more!
