Description:
Enter a handmade kite in the Smithsonian’s 36th Annual Kite Festival! This year’s theme, "Let Freedom Fly," celebrates the American spirit A special award is given for the kite that best interprets this theme. Representatives from kite organizations set up stunning displays under the open sky, where participants and spectators are invited to ask questions about kite making and kite flying. In addition to the competition, there are demonstrations by kite-flying masters, as well as a traditional rokkaku kite battle.
