New Jersey Stunt Kite Championships (NJSKC) On August 7-8, 2004, Liberty State Park along with the American Kite Association will host Liberty Kite Fest/New Jersey Sport Kite Championships. With views of the Statue of liberty, Ellis Island, New York Harbor, and the Manhattan skyline, Liberty Kite Fest/NJSKC 2004 is an event that should not be missed. This year marks the return of the competition, currently in it’s 13th year, to Liberty. This event originated in Sandy Hook, NJ then moved, briefly, to Liberty State Park, then Wildwood, NJ. NJSKC returned to Liberty State Park last year with a new flying area on the Green Lawn. The park’s views stretch from skyline to skyline, taking in the grandeur of the New York Harbor, the Gateway to America. It’s 1,120 acres along the Hudson River Waterfront in New Jersey lie within 2,000 feet of the Statue of Liberty and less than a quarter mile from Ellis Island. Scheduled for show and competition is Single Line Kites (large and VERY large), Dual Line and Multi Line sport kite competition along with Rokkaku and fighter kites. Liberty State Park is located off the New Jersey Turnpike, Exit 14B (Jersey City) and is a seven minute direct ride on the NY Waterway Ferry from NewYork City.

DIRECTIONS to Liberty State Park: From the NJ Turnpike, take Exit 14B (Jersey CIty). Go through the tolls and take an immediate left. Go through the traffic light and travel 3/4 of the way around a small traffic circle. Continue on this road past Liberty Science Center until the road ends in a "T" at Audrey Zapp Drive.
