A welcomed annual kiting event for Northwest kite enthusiasts, families, and community. This one day event presented by The Model Family Mentorship Program is designed to engage the whole family, teaches & promotes the sport of kiting, and inform the community about our efforts to strengthen families through volunteerism and mentorship. Model Families (www.mfmp.org) teams up with the community to discover the "art of kite flying". Come out and enjoy a day of fun for the whole family building, learning, and flying kites. By Bus: Metro bus routes 74 and 75 serve the park along Sand Point Way N.E. Connections are in the University District (Routes 74 and 75) and Northgate (Route 75). BY CAR: From Interstate 5 you can exit at either N.E. 45th Street (Exit #169) or N.E. 65th Street (Exit #171). From the N.E. 45th Street exit, go east on 45th, past the University of Washington, and down the 45th Street ramp. Continue east past University Village Shopping Center.
