The AKA Convention is an annual five day gathering of kite enthusiasts, artists, and competitors. With roughly 500 members in attendance, the Convention ranks as one of the largest kite gatherings in the world.

Convention Hotel (Airport Holiday Inn) is located .25 miles from the Des Moines airport. Complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the Holiday Inn is available.

Comments:
Headquarters Hotel: Airport Holiday Inn 515-287-2400. Special AKA rate - $79 plus applicable taxes. Registration includes entrance into all events, including two receptions and two banquets. Registration fees will be set by April 1, 2006.
Competitions will be at Water Works Park, a gorgeous 1500 acre wooded and open park bordered by a lake and river; check out their web site for details.
