Description:

The Castles, Kites, & Concert Event is an annual event sponsored by Friends of the Dunes, a local, non-profit organization whose mission is to assist in the promotion and protection Great Sand Dunes National Monument located in Southcentral Colorado.

Directions:

From Denver & Colorado Springs, take I-25 south to Walsenburg; west on Hwy. 160 to Hwy. 150; north to Great Sand Dunes.

Comments:

This event also includes sand sculpturing(prizes awarded and fee is charged) and a free concert in the evening. The kite flying part of the event is not judged and there is no fee.
