Description:

Annual kids-n-kites workshop at the nature center by local kite flyers. Kids will hear about kite flying through out history, use of kites on the great lakes, kite safety. They will make a "sled" kite to take with them. A fun fly will be held on the beach of Lake Michigan following the workshop. There will be other kite flyers invited to come out and fly what they got to paint the sky. Entry fee into the park, NO FEE for the workshop. This will promote National Kite Month and the upcoming Col. Murray Memorial Kite Festival at nearby Sunset Hill Farm County Park, May 5, 2001. Contact IDSP, or organizer, Mark Jaeger 219-926-6777.
