Description:

1st Night Providence is a grand celebration of New years Eve. There are dozens on venues with hundreds of acts throughout the day/night in providence. We'll hold a Kite flying clinic for 400 children and provide an indoor kite ballet demonstration each hour (Lam Hoac with host of indoor fliers)to be run from 6 - 11 PM in one of the main ballrooms of the RICC. We kick off the evening’s events with a 5:30 PM procession of artists involved in 1st Night. Our group flys kites through the streets of providence and ends at City Hall. Than the indoor clinic and demos begin! FYI, the next day (1/1/02) there will be a new years day fly at Brenton Point in Newport starting at noon. This is an annual event.

Directions:

Rtr 95 North or South directly through Providence. The RICC is located along rt 95 just north of the 195/85 intersection. Take the downtown providence exit.

Host hotel with discount rate (99/nt) is the Seaview Inn in Newport, RI (401-846-3262). You can fly on site at the hotel as well. The hotel overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. All attendees must puchase a 1st Night button for access to all venues t/o providence. Go to www.firstnightprovidence.org for more details on parking, maps, etc.
