[Pocatello] A photo of hundreds of Japanese bundled up against the cold, flying kites on New Years Day, has stuck with me. We don't have an ocean to fly over, so we'll fly above Pocatello on Red Hill, just above 8th and Dillon where the PSUB is located. Most of the more than 400 kites made for the first annual Idaho State Kite Festival did not fly due to snow! Let’s try again on NY Day!
If you don't have a kite, a workshop will be held Dec 29 (see calendar).

[Treasure Island] Kitesville and SASKC have come together to bring Eastern League Competition and 3 days of kite flying and fun. Kids Kitemaking, candy drops, bowl races, sport kite demos and more!! Treasue Island is one of the largest beaches in Florida. Dodd Gross will be bringing his fligh school! Fighter kite competition.

IQuad will be performing all weekend and Larger Than Life Kites will be filling the skies with a fantastic display.
       
[Longbeach] I can't believe it, 7 years running now! The longest running indoor kite festival in the world! Yes, folks, the 7th annual Windless Kites Festival is coming up. The event is held in the Long Beach Elementary School, 400 Washington Ave N., Long Beach, WA. There will be kites on display, free-flying time, an indoor competition, indoor stunt kite demonstration, and even an indoor Hot Trick Shoot-out. Jan. 18th the festival begins at 4pm with an evening of informal free-flying. Time to get reacquainted with your indoor kites or try flying indoors for the first time. Just speak up and you'll get a free lesson! Saturday, Jan 19th will begin in the morning with more free-flying time. At 10am the demonstrations will start. Some more free-flying through the lunch hour and at 2pm there will be the indoor competition. At 6pm the banquet begins. It will be an Italian potluck. At the banquet, awards will be presented and there will be a auction / raffle, with the proceeds going to the World Kite Museum in Long Beach. So bring an Italian dish or salad, and an item for the raffle. Sunday, Jan. 20th, will bring even more free-flying time, demonstrations, and at 11am an indoor "Hot Trick Shoot-out". Last year the event was a huge success and this year promises to be bigger. To compete in either or both of the competitions you must be a current AKA member and there will be a $10 registration fee. So come spend the long weekend with us, you won't regret it!

There will be stunt kite performances, single line show kites, impressive ground displays, traction kiting and an indoor kite exhibition at the Community House in the downtown area.
