Kite Event Calendar

[Topeka] The Topeka Kite Flyers hold a club fly on the 1st & 3rd sundays of every month (weather premitting)

[Redondo Beach] The festival will feature kite contests and related activities for all ages. It will include traditional kite flying, kite demonstrations by the masters. Also, prizes will be awarded for the highest flying, most beautiful, and largest kite. Of course there will be a candy drop for the little ones. Team Air West 1997 U.S. Champions will take to the skies armed with L.E.D. lights mounted to their dual control high performance kites. The evening sky will be ablaze with kite lights streaking back and forth above the beach and pier. Admission to the Festival is free, kids under 10yrs and senior citizens will receive a free kite, (quantities limited), photo opportunities all day. There is plenty of pier parking available, and limited neighborhood parking nearby. Food and beverages are also available. Special Festival Guests: The Foundation for the Jr. Blind. The 3-piece band Island Breeze, and traditional Samoan dance group Heart of Polynesia.

[Overland Park] The Kansas City Kite Club flys are a gathering of kite enthusiasts in and around the Kansas City area. We meet on the second Sunday of every month at Johnson County Community College, 1-5 to fly kites, share kite stories, and expose more people to kiting. In short we enjoy the comaraderie and fellowship of each other and have fun! Most of our flies include music provided by the Kansas City Kite Club sound system which helps create a real festive atmosphere. Come join us.

[Lincoln City] First organizational meeting and fun fly for the newly formed Oregon Sport kite Association. Meeting starts at noon, with flying immediately after.

[Austin]

[Santa Barbara] The 15th annual Santa Barbara Kite Festival will fill the skies over Shoreline Park in Santa Barbara 11am-5pm Sunday, March 21, 1999. The festival, celebrating its 15th year, is co-organized and co-sponsorted by radio stations 101.7 K-lite and News Radio 990 KTMS. A portion of the festival proceeds will benefit the local chapter of Special Olympics. The Santa Barbara Kite Festival will feature kite contests, and related activities for all ages and kite-flying abilities. The contests will include kite fighting, stunt flying, highest flying, most beautful, and largest kite. There will also be kite "tail chasing" events for children to chase and catch a kite tail all day long. The festival will include food, beverage, and kite booths.

[Seal Beach] Kites will fly from 12-5. We will be building sand castles from 8-12am There will be prizes for special kites and castles. We will have a lot of fun - If it is raining - the it will be portponed until March 27th.

[Huntsville] The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is planning "Come Fly With Me" Kite Festival for March 27, 1999. We would like to have stunt/professional kite flyers on site to join in the activities we have planned for the day. The ultimate goal is to have over 500 kite’s flying at once over the Center. If you have any information on people in the Northern Alabama, South Tennessee area who may be interested in participating, I would greatly appreciate our request being forwarded to them.
