[Oregon] U-MAKE 2013 will be March 1st - 3rd (First weekend of March!) at the Lorado Taft Field Campus, Oregon, IL

Located just outside the city of Oregon, Illinois. Named after Lorado Taft, the 141 acre campus has become Northern Illinois University’s outdoor education and conference center. For more information, see www.niu.edu/taft

Expected teachers and projects...

â– Simon Crafts - 2011 and 2012 AKA Grand National Champion kitemaker will present an original single line kite.
â– Barbara Meyer - Former AKA President, award winning kitemaker with kite designs marketed worldwide, will present a cellular kite.
â– Also, Donna Schenk, Charm Lindner, Linda Larkey, and Donna Houchins.

Registration is limited... make plans now. Enrollment will open mid-December on U-MAKE website.

Cost of the retreat ($175) will include:

â– Ability to enroll in up to 4 different classes. (kit costs are extra)
â– Dorm style lodging for Friday and Saturday night
â– Family style meals from Friday evening to Sunday lunch
â– Ability to concentrate on one new project or concept, or pick up potentially thousands of new ideas and suggestions
â– Great way to network with people in the Midwest (and beyond) with the same interests - just different experiences and ideas!

[Tampa] Kiting Tampa Bay will be flying kites in the city.
The Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts showcases 300 of the world’s most talented artists who essentially transform a downtown Tampa park into a museum.
Kiting Tampa Bay will have a both set up with kites, mini-kites, and KAP.

[San Diego] This festival is being held at Dusty Rhodes Park located at the intersection of Nimitz Blvd. and Sunset Cliffs Blvd., San Diego, CA. That intersection is at the west end of Interstate 8.

[Denver] Our monthly fly for the Denver Metro area and Colorado. All are welcome to join us here every First Sunday, regardless of weather conditions. Please contact us to find out if there are any changes due to soccer or other kite festivals on a particular day.

[Austin] The Kite Festival takes place in Zilker Park (2100 Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX 78704) on fields located between Barton Springs Road to the south and Lady Bird Lake to the north. A park road, Lou Neff Road, runs around the border of this area. These fields are now known as the “Great Lawn”. Zilker Park opened in 1936 and the 1937 maps calls this area the ‘Kite Flying Fields’ so there has been a long history of kite flying at Zilker.

[Otaki] Come and enjoy 3 days of free, open-air, eco-friendly fun to be held on Otaki beach.
Be wowed by every kind of kite imaginable from the giant to the tiny,
acrobatic and single line. Kite buggies, kite surfing, weird and wonderful, traditional
Maori and international designs. Get involved in the contests and kite making. A festival for everyone, kids and grown ups, amateurs and professionals.

[Mineral Wells, WV 26150] Kite Festival, kite workshop, show kites, kite vendor, food, music, prizes give in different kite categories, bouncy houses, kite safety classes, and more. Two days this year.

[Orlando] A fun day of kite flying and kid’s kite making in the Avalon Park town park. There will also be kite flying demos, a kite vendor, and a local group selling lunch.

[St. Augustine] Extreme Kites of St. Augustine is having a good Old fashioned Fun Fly to Bring in Spring. It is open to any and everyone to come fly kites with us on the beautiful re-nourished beach at the pier. Food, Live music, arts, crafts, and more. Fun for the whole family. Any and everything that flies is welcome. Come help paint the sky with color.

[Dayton (Wright-Patterson AFB)] Indoor Kite Fly in the Modern Flight Hangar, the Museum opens at 9:00 and we'll fly till 3:00. Bring your indoor kites and join us.
The Museum staff will make kites (for a fee) with kids.
The U.S. Air Force Museum is free to the public.

[Clearwater] Join us for a fun day of Kiting flying at Sandy Key Park.
Let’s fill the sky at Sand Key Park with Kites!
Sand Key is a fun park to fly at with lots of parking.

[Sycamore] This free family-fun event kicks-off in Kar-Fre’s beautiful Belgian conservatory with 2 Make Your Own Kites-- A bumblebee and a sled kite (there is a minor charge for the sled kite kits.) Also Plant A Pumpkin Seed, Super Bowling, Floor Chalk, Bubbles, and popcorn and cotton candy. At HIGH noon in the Sycamore Park Annex just behind Kar-Fre will be our Kite Fly. Fly the kite you make, bring your own, or just come enjoy the fun! Don't miss any of this family-fun event!
