Kites On The Green is the brainchild of Mayor Paula Dierenfeld who loved attending her hometown’s kite festival as a child. “One of my fondest childhood memories was seeing hundreds of colorful kites fly over the golf course in the small rural town in which I grew up. Kites On The Green is a wonderful opportunity for central Iowans to come together for a family-friendly festival as beautiful colors fill the Johnston sky,” Dierenfeld said. |

[Wheaton] NOW GO FLY A KITE! The Wheaton Park District, Gift of Wings, and the Kite Society of WI & IL are proud to present the 7th Annual Wheaton "GO FLY A KITE" Kite Festival as part of the Tour de Kites. This event is planned for Saturday, MAY 2, 2015 in Graf Park from 10:00 am until 2:15 pm. In April, 2010, in conjunction with Wheaton’s annual Celebration, Wheaton residents attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most kites flown simultaneously (967 kites). We had over 1,100 notarized registrants that day, and launched over 900 kites all at the same time. The families that came out for the event had a great time, so we are ready to “give it another try.” Flying for the 6th time, The World renowned Chicago Fire Kite Team, Dan Newman, Mike Delfar, O2, and Fire and Ice, and Elizabeth Gordon. The Wheaton Eye Clinic Kids Mad Dash will take place at 1:00pm and the Candy drop will take place between shows. Check this out! The Grand Launch will take place at 11:00. Gift of Wings will be selling kites at the park. For more information, contact Scott Fisher at 414-305-3145 or Kristina Nemetz.

Kites In The Park (CO)
[Fort Collins] Here is the scoop. I just got official word from my inside sources at city of Fort Collins. The date for the 2015 Kites In The Park Festival is Sunday May 17. We are going to have twice as much fun this year because of last years weather cancellation. If the winds are as bad this time we are going to put kite bridles on the Porta Johns and fly them.
I will be consulting with the various weather genies to make sure they give us perfect weather this year. Please set the 17th of May aside for a fun day at Spring Canyon Park. We are expecting our big kites by Bob Matteo, Mix McGraw flying big kites, and good participation from the Mile Hi Kite Club showing off their collection of kites. We also have ready about 2000 kites to give away. So lets go fly a kite |
|||||

[Ulverstone] Kite Flyers of Tasmania Inc invites all whom are able to make it down under to our Annual Kite Workshop Weekend. This year, we are excited to announce the theme of ’Creative Kite Making’ with Istvan Bodoczky. The workshop should be an amazing one as we are bringing Istvan Bodoczky all the way from Hungary for this special event. Istvan is an expert on asymmetric kites!! During the workshop, we will examine the different aspects of kiting where creativity plays a role. And this is far beyond just doing original designs, new shapes, structures or patterns! Adaptations or “rephraseings” of old, well known models, experimenting with new materials, improvising (which we often do on the kiting field) or taking the challenges of flying found materials all call for our inventiveness. This workshop does not need special skills; it is for both novice or experienced kite-makers. The purpose of the workshop is not necessarily producing a new kite but to stir up creativity inherent in everyone. During this workshop participants may work alone, in pairs or in groups on different suggested challenges. We use simple materials like paper and bamboo and anything inexpensive, “local materials” as these ensure enough freedom for experiments to start with.
