[San Andreas] The San Andreas Merchants’ Association will present the 4th Annual “Kites Over Calaveras” on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Toyon Middle School. There will be kite-flying demonstrations, booths, and tempting food and refreshments from our local non-profit organizations. Everyone is welcome to just bring their favorite kite and come on out and let ‘er fly. There’s no charge for admission, and parking is free. We will also have kites on display for both the National April Kite Flying celebration and througout our annual Texas Summer Reading Club. [Junction] The Junction Kite Makers' Retreat is an annual gathering of folks who are interested in kites, flying, making kites, the art thereof, and sharing. [Nags Head] 25th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival - Jockey’s Ridge State Park (mp 12.5), Nags Head. The Rogallo Kite festival, presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, will continue honoring Francis M. Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the Flexible Wing. This two day festival will feature our signature kite flying on the dunes of Jockey’s ridge as well as celebrating the history of kiting. This Kite Festival will be held at the EAA Airventure Museum in Oshkosh on Pioneer Airport. The times are from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, with the Grand Launch of 200 kites at noon. The event is FREE. Gift of Wings will be on sight selling all of your favorite kites, windsocks and Garden Spinners. When in town, visit the EAA Airventure Museum sometime during the day.
