[Albuquerque] During the nine day event, there will be a ‘Fiesta Fun Fly.’ Kites Aloft will begin at the conclusion of the morning Mass Ascension and ballooning activities. Fiesta Organizers cordially invite all kiteflyers to bring their collection of kites and share their works of art with the world. This is strictly a fun fly and an opportunity to witness. The greatest ‘flying’ events of the year....balloons and kite. For 29 rollicking years, the Duke City has hosted the Kodak Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the world’s largest, most photographed, most whimsical sporting spectacular. Balloon Fiesta promises and delivers a sky-show of fantasy, meriment, beauty and laughter. Nearly three decades of high-rise excitement have catapulted Albuquerque into global popularily, drawing worldwide media coverage and luring huge crowds. The “Big One" keeps growing bigger and more inviting. From the exhilaration of lift-off to the candy-colored sky. Balloon Fi! esta blends reality and imagination into one bright experience.Add the delightful “Special Shapes Rodeos", or the “Balloon Glow" that transforms the night into a dreamy, glowing spectacular along with the Gas Balloon Races—that’s "Balloon Fiesta 2001." During the five Mass Ascensions throughtout the week, more than 850 balloons lift off in unison. Whoever you are, whatever you love, this Fiesta will fill you with awe—a gravity-defying inspiration of a lifetime!
[Seal Beach] This will be a AKA sanctioned sport kite competition on Saturday, Oct. 13th. On Sunday, Oct. 14th, a festival will be held by Aire Affair Kite Productions in conjunction with the Japan America Society. On both days guest fliers will be included. These guests will include the world-traveled sport kite stack team Sundowners and David and Susan Gomberg of single line fame. The Gombergs bring with them some of the most spectacular large kites flown today. Also, J.R. Tolman will be a guest giving his family orientated kite building workshop to children showing up. Also, Japanese guests will be present. Seal Beach is a spectacular local and provides a wonderful spot for all kitefliers to come together to perform the sport and art. Weather is normally beautiful.

Only flown a fighter a couple of times? Not very good with one? Never flown one but very interested? Come!! Free lessons and tips will abound! This event is simply a gathering of very enthusiastic fliers and is not sanctioned by or affiliated with any organization. These events will occur about every 2 months at various southern California locations. Bring to the event what you expect to get out of it, but you’ll probably bring home more. This event is being held in conjuction with Seal Beach Kite Festival put on by Air Affair Kite Productions. The main festival occurs both Saturday and Sunday.
