[Newport] The Region 1 Annual Meeting and Fun Fly is an annual gathering of kite enthusiasts, artists, and competitors. With roughly 50 Region 1 members in attendance, this is a chance to get together and have pure fun. Learn, fly and have fun are the main themes. Oh yes, also meet and dine at a beautiful location, Johnny’s Seafood (on the beach). Event activities include educational workshops, indoor flying, annual meeting/banquet, small auction and fun flys at the beach. The gathering is held each year in Newport at Easton’s Beach. Only AKA members may register for the seminars, indoor fly and meeting/banquet. All kiteflying enthusiasts are invited to attend the fun flys on the beach. Attendees may join AKA on site!

[Overland Park] The Kansas City Kite Club flys are a gathering of kite enthusiasts in and around the Kansas City area. We meet on the second Sunday of every month at Johnson County Community College, 1-5 to fly kites, share kite stories, and expose more people to kiting. In short we enjoy the comaraderie and fellowship of each other and have fun! Most of our flies include music provided by the Kansas City Kite Club sound system which helps create a real festive atmosphere. Come join us.

[Miami Beach] The Little Acorns Kite Festival is a fund raising event for Little Acorns Children & Family Programs, a non-profit community-based organization operating in Miami Dade County, Florida. The festival features invited flyers from around the world with children as the focus of the festival.

[Southlake] This free workshop will provide all the materials for the children to make a homemade kite for the upcoming kite competitions at the Southlake Kite Festival in the Sky on April 24, 1999 at Southlake Town Square. The workshop for children ages 5-8 will focus on basic kite designs, whereas the sessions for ages 9-12 will work on more complex kite designs. Kathy Nixe of Jewels of the sky Kite Club. Kathy is an award winning kite flying champion with over 10 years of kite design and flying experience. [Ocean City] The Maryland International Kite Exposition is a multifaceted event. It features local kite clubs (Keystone Kiters, Lehigh Valley Kite Society, Maryland Kite Society, South Jersey Kite Fliers, Sky Pilots, Susquehanna River Rats, Winds and Rainbows, and Wings Over Washington) exhibiting kites and managing interactive kite fields for the public. On a guest exposition field, nine featured kitemakers are showcased. Three International, three international, three national and three regional kitemakers are selected each year. [Springfield] In celebration of Community College Month, LLCC will host this very special afternoon. Participants will be encouraged to construct their own kites, and several stations will be available for informal learning on the hows and whys of flight. Cloud Chasers Kite Club of Central Illinois will be available to lend their expertise and to show and fly kites. Refreshments and entertainment will also be provided. At 4:00 pm we will have the "Great Kite Flight."
         
[Steelville] This is the first Peaceful Bend Vineyard Kite Day. The #1 three man kite flying team in the nation, the Wind Wizards will be performing their amazing aeronatical kite flying at the winery. All kite enthusiats, admirerers, and those who are just plain curious are welcome! There will be plenty to do for families - bring your own kite or build your own with the kits provided, a candy drop and lessons by the Wind wizards themselves will be available. The winery hours are 10am - 6 pm, and there will be 3 exhibitions during the day. Please call for any extra information. Food is available and everyone is welcome. $2 fee per person.
