Kite Event Calendar

[Shawnee,OK] Shawnee Sister Cities Council is sponsoring Shawnee’s First Kite Festival. We are inviting area kite flyers to come and show off their stunt kites, show kites, or just come and enjoy the fun. There will be contests in several categories including smallest, largest and most unique. Pam Thomason will be our vendor for kites and kite equipment. Steve Thomason may bring his kite buggies. The gathering is open to all AKA members and the general public.THis is not a serious competition just a fun day to share kites! We hope to make this an annual event. Please come on out and join us!

[Denver] One Sky One World is an annual event which occurs every second Sunday of October. Also, known as "World Kite Day" people in hundreds of locations around the world demonstrate their concern for peace and protection of the planet by flying their kites in the universal sky which has no boundaries and circles the earth. The Denver event is widely in weekly and daily newspapers and in public service announcements on television and radio. It is free and open to the public. Opening ceremonies will include the release of 200 white doves and greetings from local dignitaries. Music will be provided by the Denver School for the Arts Jazz Band with an appearance by internaionally known pianist, Joe Bonner. Tunis Mekar, a Balinese Musical Group will also appear.

[Fridley] The Minnesota Kite Society is joining other organizations around the world to host One Sky, One World, Kite Fly for Peace. The purpose of One Sky One World, is simply to promote the concept of global harmony and understanding between all peoples of the world through an expression of the universality of kites and the wind. [Hull] This event will feature kite-powered buggies, parachuting teddy bears, demos of single, dual and quad line kites,raffles with gifts from local merhancts, and a special attraction... "The British are coming..." Yes, His Majesties 10th Regiment of Foot will display the 18th century re-enactment with display of musket drills, musket firing, political speeches of 1776 and more.
