Harborfest (VA)
[Norfolk] Harborfest is a large celebration on the waterfront of Norfolk. Tall sailing ships from around the world are on display. It includes kids events and, this year, kite displays and demonstrations by the RAF.
       
[Milwaukee] Fireworks Kite Festival July 3, 2009... BOOM BOOM!KSWI in Conjuction with Gift of Wings, US Bank and Your Milwaukee County Parks..CountyParks.com, will sponsor our annual Fireworks Kite Festival. Featuring the Giant Kites of Yves LaForest. This is a fun fly and all are welcome to participate. Our goal is to fill the sky with as many kites as possible. Times from 11:00 am until 6:30 PM, then 7:30 PM until the fireworks start at 9:25 pm. We have set aside a huge area of Veterans Park just for kitefliers. So fly a kite and get the best seats in the house for the greatest firworks show on Earth. Well...in my opinion, of course. Now understand that traffic and parking are a real mess for this event, so come early and don't plan on leaving until after the fireworks are finished at 10:15pm. In other words, plan your whole day in the park. It's a blast.
WindFest (WV)
[Davis] A family fun fly event in the beautiful Canaan Valley, 3200 ft above sea level! Demonstrations of large show kites, dual-line and quad-line sport kites will be held along with kite making for the kids. Bring your own kite or purchase one on site. There will also be participatory events such as running of the bols and most unique kite that flies. Conditions permitting, there will be demonstrations of paragliding by local fliers. If you are a kite buggier, there is space available for buggying!Other attractions include artists and craftsmen from the Appalachian region on Saturday, as well as the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra on Sunday afternoon.
         
[Oregon] Since our monthly fun fly falls on the 4th of July this year, Maumee Bay SP is about the last place we want to be,( very crowded ) so we may change this months fly to another location. So stay tuned.

[Newport] The skies above Newport, Rhode Island's, "Brenton Point State Park" along Ocean Drive will be filled with a mosaic of colorful kites of all shapes and sizes, July 10th thru 13th, 2009. 10 am until 5 pm daily. The annual event will feature a free "candy drop" for kids, a public "Rokakku" fighter kite battle, raffles for kite prizes, and demonstrations of various kites, including synchronized kite ballets choreographed to music. Kite Clubs from across the Northeast will converge in Newport for an unprecedented show of color and skill in all phases of kite flying imaginable. Admission is free; parking is available. [Knysna] Following last year's great inaugural success we are planning an even better follow up. Subject toi confirmation, the event will again be 3 days at the second weekend of the famous Knysna Oyster Festival. It is less about oysters than sport, entertainment, fun in the winter sun and it adds100,000 to the population of Knysna for the ten days. Come and experience South Africa's number one winter festival and round off with our great kite festival in the heart of South Africa's aptly named Garden Route
       
[Grayland] The Westport Windriders will host their annual Festival once again. It is said this festival is one of the best on the west coast because of its size and the kitemakers and flyers that show up.

[Oregon] This is the BIG one, and the De Evolution of the kite festival. No big named guest and NO competition of any kind. Just 3 days of friends, family, and fun. The NCSKG has been referred to as the Woodstock of kite flying.

[Ogallala] KITE FLYING AND SAND SCULPTURE BUILDING CONTEST. Registration begins at 11:00 am at the parking lot on the north end of Kingsley Dam. Awards, free live music, grubbing out and more family fun starts at 4:30 pm at the Sands Edge deck and parking lot. Additional sculpture viewing and individual kite flying will continue on Sunday so stick around for the whole weekend. Pre-registration is not required, but recommended. There is no registration fee.
