[Port Allen] Kite Fest Louisiane' is a 3 day event which includes the following schedule of events: Friday, March 30 is Educational Day and open to all schools wishing to schedule field trips - Activities include Kite making workshop, professional kite flier performances, Bol Races, Candy Drops and other children’s activities. Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1 are open to the public with activities including kite performances, lives music, climbing wall, inflatables, story telling, face painting, kite making workshops, sport kite team ballets, show kite demonstrations, Kite Art Exhibit tent, kitemaking competition booth, Louisiana food booths, candy drops, bol races, fun flying for adult, kids and families and musical entertainment. Saturday hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. with entertainment by Don Rich from 2:30 - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday is from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. with entertaiment by NaNaSha (50’s music) from 4:00 -6:00 p.m.. All three days include ongoing musical entertainment by: Classic Sounds by Jude The event is free and open to the public. A possible Rokkaku Battle is currently in the works.

[Lincoln City] Plan on attending Oregon’s Only Indoor Kite Festival, in Lincoln City, March 2007. Yes, it’s true. If you have the right kite and know how to do it, you can fly kites indoors without wind---and have great fun even if the weather outside is frightful! So everyone can enjoy this great sport, Lincoln City is bringing expert indoor kite fliers from all over the country to demonstrate the art and teach kids of all ages how to soar without wind.

[Ft. Walton Beach] This event is a fun fly with lots of free events for the kids as well as stunt kite demos and lessons on the beach. Dennis and Kelly from Larger Than Life Kites will be providing us with a gorgeous kite and ground display. There are lots of restaraunts and shops for everyone to enjoy as well.

[Long Beach] German kite maker Arno Haft built this kite sometime in the 1950’s. It has a wingspan of 2.4 meters and is 1.5 meters tall. It is a very nice size for most people to handle. It has a surprisingly large wing range. Check www.worldkitemuseum.com for more info later.

[Washington] The theme of this year’s event and a series of major Smithsonian exhibitions is "Japan WOW." The kite that best fits this theme will be awarded the Theme Prize. New rules for 2007 create more opportunities for kite flying and for kitemakers to explain their creations to the crowd over the PA system; less emphasis on kite category competition. Event includes guests from Japan, Hot Tricks Shoot-out, and Rok battle.

[Roseville] Family Fun Fly with Sport Kite Demos, Large kite display, food,Vendors

[Virginia Beach] Spectators, avid kite flyers, and novices of all ages are invited to the 3rd Annual Atlantic Coast Kite Festival at the Virginia Beach oceanfront on Saturday, April 7, 2007, from 10:00am-5:30pm. All activities will be held on the beach and in the park at 17th Street.

Highlights include:

•Workshops for ages 6-14 on kite building and kite flying led by Archie Stewart, of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Stewart, utilizing hands-on, interactive teaching, combines both the academics and pleasures of kiting. He encourages students to “teambuild” as they work together to create their own kites. Archie Stewart is a member of the American Kitefliers Association (AKA) and, as a sport kite competitor, won the ’99-’00 Eastern League Championship in individual precision flight and pairs ballet. His workshops will be open to a limited number of students.

•Kite demonstrations and activities presented by the Richmond Air Force kite club from Richmond, Virginia. Demonstrations will be in dual line ballet and precision, multi-line ballet and precision, multiple kite flying by one person, and stacked kite flying. Expert kite fliers from the club will be on hand to help novices learn the fundamentals of kite flying.

•Kite vendors with an assortment of kites and equipment for sale.

•An open-fly area on the beach where participants of all ages may fly their kites.

The Atlantic Coast Kite Festival is free and open to the public. There is a nominal charge for participating in the kite building workshop

[Long Beach] Don Mock will be teaching another class in the technique of painting on ripstop. Class members will decorate their own kite sail just under 48 inched tall when finished. This kite flies in a wide variety of wind conditions. It is similar to the class that Don taught at Ft. Worden and here at the museum with John Pollock
Painting happens on Saturday to let the paint dry over night then finish sewing on Sunday. All art supplies and rip-stop will be available at the class and the students need to bring their sewing set up, their imagination, and if they have a favorite, bring it.
The cost of the class will be $70.00 for both days.

[Orlando,] 1st Annual Stoneybrook East Kite Festival

1200 resident members are invited to fly kites with the Hawaiian Kiteworks Team Pilots. Demonstrations of stunt kite flying will be held twice during the event. Food,music, face painting and much more.

[Berkeley] Noncompetitive Practice Event. Come out and brush up on your routine or tricks. Or, perhaps, you would just like to see what it’s like to fly infront of your peers and be critiqued. Or, maybe, you just want to have some fun flying with others.

[Georgetown] The 2007 Georgetown International Kite and Culture Festival will be held at Cardome Centre in Georgetown, Ky, located 15 miles north of Lexington and 70 miles south of Cincinnati. It will focus on non-competitive kiting, kitemaking, and kite displays/education. Lots of other activities for kitefliers of all ages. In addition to the kiting activities, the festival will include a cultural fair with food, music, crafts and cultural demonstrations from a variety of countries and cultures.

[Cedar Hill]

[Bolingbrook] Kite Fly for Cub Scouts and their families. The event will include kitemaking, stunt kite demonstration, learn to fly a stunt kite, and a Rokkaku battle.

[Salem] Richmond Air Force Kite Club presents an all-day kite flying show and exhibition at Roanoke County’s Green Hill Park, west of Salem VA. [Idaho Falls] 7th annual gathering of inland Kite folks. Last years event had about 1000 flyers attending during the Saturday events. This is Idaho’s Largest and orginal Kite Festival. Please come be part of the fun!

[Morro Bay]

[Long Beach] The Astrofighter is a twelve pointed Afghan Fighter that has its outer pockets imbedded in the design. All you have to do is fold them into place and stitch them down. The center spine holds the tubing pockets where the spars culminate. Put tails on this kite and it calms down and dances in the sky. Kathy will teach new techniques working on an 18” circular surface to inspire new imaginative graphics. All the laminated spines, precut pockets, bridle and spars will be included in the class price of $60.

[Galesburg] Schedule of Events:

Saturday & Sunday the outdoor kite flying festival begins at Lake Storey Park.This event is FREE for the whole family. Grounds open Saturday at 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and on Sunday grounds open at 10a.m. - 2 p.m. Cookouts provided by local food services both days. Silent Auction starts Saturday and ends at 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Candy drops anytime throughout the two day event(weather depending). Kite Flying lessons taught by professionals. Each year new and exciting events take place during the two day outdoor event.

[Grinnell] Kites In The Classroom. Grinnell 4th graders. Kite maker challenge to Jr. High, High School, and Grinnell College students. General attendance kitds kite workshop. Pancake breakfast followed by kite parade followed by mass ascension. Indoor flying exhibition. General flying field. Large kite flying field and sport kite field with exhibition. Night flight. Food vendors available on grounds. Spring prevailing winds are from the west and southwest.

[Easton] Annual kite festival sponsored by LVKS and Northampton County Parks and Recreation on May 5th from 10:00AM-4:00PM. Raindate is May 6th from 10:00AM-4:00PM. Allows those in this area to come out to fly and learn about kites. There is also kid’s kitebuilding, kite games, candy drops, kite flying lessons and a Rokkaku Battle. Food is available for purchase or you can bring your own picnic lunch.
