[Cleveland] CLEVELAND KITE FESTIVAL

On September 11 and 12, there will be kites, a sky full of amazing aerial acts, and a park full of fun at Lakefront State Park (Lower Edgewater Beach) in Cleveland beginning at 11 a.m. and concluding at 5 p.m. both days. And it’s all FREE. No admission charge to bring the whole family!

The Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK for short) will hold its annual festival.

There will be a Midway with craft booths and kite shops, a corral of Flying Animal Kites, Sensational Aerial Acts in Center Field, games and contests that include the public’s participation, and a Learn To Fly Sport Kites field. Each day will end with the Warriors taking the field for a Rokkaku Kite Battle for Supremacy of the Sky.

A Mass Ascension of kites will take place at 12 noon. Everyone who has a kite is welcome to join in this event as the National Anthem opens the events of each day. A kite-making workshop will be held in the OSEK tent twice each day. Wind Sprints for Children of All Ages will also be held both days.

OSEK is the oldest kite club in Ohio, now in its 33nd year. The group is active from April through October doing community events, workshops and talks in northeastern Ohio’s libraries, schools, parks and with organizations. Start your kite adventure with ''The 32nd Annual Don Jacobs Toyota Frank Mots International Kite Festival to be held on Saturday, September 11th,& Sunday September 12th, 2010, in Veterans Park on Milwaukee's Lakefront from 10:00 am until 6:00Pm Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00pm on Sunday. We invited County Executive Scott Walker to kick off the festival at 12 noon with the Caribou Coffee grand launch of hopefully 500 kites. That's right...two great days of flying. Please join us for the 12th Annual Capriccio Festival of Kites on Saturday, September 11th, on the Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, Maine.

Festival will begin at 10am and continue through 2pm. There will be over 300 free kites for kids to decorate and fly.

Because the kite festival falls on 9/11, we do encourage kite flyers to bring your patriotic kites.

Rain date will be Sunday September 12th from 10-2pm

In addition to the kites for kids, there will be a general kite fly.
There will be a kite demonstration and flying area roped off. A mass ascension will be at noon. All participants who demonstrate kites, help the kids decorating their kites, lend moral support, or help in other ways will again receive a free festival t-shirt and a beach parking voucher.

This year’s event will also include contests, vendor booths, wind art, and educational opportunities provided by NREL! The audience for this event includes children and families, as well as kite flying enthusiasts and community members of all ages.

[West sayville] West Sayville, New York – The 3rd Annual Long Island Maritime Museum Kite Festival will be held Saturday, September 25th, on the picturesque grounds of the Museum, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the Festival is $2.00 (children under 5 enter free).

Long Island Maritime Museum’s Kite Festival is a day of family fun designed to provide unique experiences that promote learning, healthy outdoor activities and new adventures. The Kite Festival will feature a number of interactive activities including games and attractions for children, live music, delectable treats and a kite construction zone where families can work together to customize their kites. Featured every year is a build your own kite contest and Bol races in which awards are given in different categories. Kite kits are available for $5.00.

[Enid] An attempt to set a new world record for most kites in the sky at one time. (Current record 7,202) 10,400 kites will be available for distribution prior to record attempt at 1:00 pm. Kiters are encouraged to bring their own; an informal "fun fly" will go on all day prior to and following the record attempt. Fliers must be signed up and witnessed to count for the record.
